Annual Report 2008 of the South-American Regional Committee on Paleogene Stratigraphy

In this period, N. Malumian, chairman of the SARCPS since its creation in 1991, has stepped down. He was replaced by Carlos Jaramillo, continuing Carolina Náñez as secretary. In this transitional year, a web page for the Regional Committee was prepared and is now available at http://striweb.si.edu/jaramillo/committee/index.html; this page will report on the activities of the Committee and news of interest for researchers working on Paleogene stratigraphy, and it already has a list of recent publications concerning the Paleogene of South and Central America.
Also, a number of colleagues from different countries and specialties were invited to participate in the Regional Committee, including Tania Lindner Dutra from Brazil, Luis Felipe Hinojosa from Chile, German Bayona from Colombia, Teresita Aguilar from Costa Rica, Manuel Iturralde-Vinent from Cuba, Enrique Martínez-Hernández from Mexico, Sara Morón from Panama and Javier Jacay from Peru. A regional meeting is being planned in Argentina in 2010, to gather our collaborators for a discussion on the advances of the stratigraphy of the Paleogene in South and Central America.
