Annual Report 2010 of the South-American Regional Committee on Paleogene Stratigraphy

This year was dedicated to the organization of a symposium on the Paleogene of South and Central America and the Caribbean, which was held at the X Argentinean Congress of Paleontology and Biostratigraphy and VII Latin American Congress of Paleontology (La Plata, Argentina), on September 21st, 2010. The aim of the symposium, convened by Guiomar Vucetich and Carolina Náñez, was to have an overview of research related to the Paleogene of South and Central America, and to provide an opportunity for the meeting of members of the Regional Committee to discuss current activities and working plans for 2011-2012. The symposium was quite successful, had a numerous attendance, and allowed the meeting of geoscientists working on the Paleogene of South and Central America. In the morning, six conferences by invited speakers were presented, and a poster session  was held in the evening. Contributions covered a broad thematic spectrum on the regional Paleogene, from both terrestrial and marine environments (see a list below).
The web page for the Regional Committee (http://striweb.si.edu/jaramillo/committee/index.html) has been maintained and actualized, including news, research activities and a list of recent publications concerning the Paleogene of South and Central America.
